Spring has Sprung! Six fresh wines to welcome the sun!! KWAF CLUBK is here and I'm going to cork some vino and chat about what all the fuss is about. KWAF CLUBK delivers six expertently hand-picked wines every season. If you have ever been to Eastern Canada, you know the Ontario area has some Fabulous wines. I got hooked many years ago when we went to Ottawa. The unfortunate thing is even though we're both in Canada, I cannot buy Ontario wines in BC. Thankfully KWAF CLUBK has the wine and delivers! Every three months you'll receive 6 wines. Mixed Club members typically receive 4 red, 2 white (with a chance of rosé or bubbly). Red Club members receive 3 different wines, 2 of each bottle. All your wines are hand-selected by the Taste Buds exclusively for CLUBK.

The Mixed Club - $125 (Include Shipping)

All Red Club - $138 (Includes Shipping)

KWAF CLUBK - SPRING 2018

pipe down

2016 PIPE DOWN RED

The Organized Crime Winery

organizedcrimewinery.com

Grapes: Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot

Price $22.00

The Pipe Down is a multi-layered wine that is nonetheless really easy to absorb into your life. You can go deep on it, or just accept that it’s delicious and ready for you to love. It’s big, warm, generous, delicious. It’s soft and ready to go, made with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. You’d find those grapes in many a Bordeaux blend. But here, they are uniquely Ontario: full of verve and vitality Good for Sipping or burgers.

chard

2016 CUREMAN'S CHARD

Burning Kiln Winery

burningkilnwinery.ca

Grapes: Chardonnay

Price $24.95

Those crazy kids at Burning Kiln spend an awful lot of time ensuring their wines are top notch. The grapes for this Chardonnay were hand-picked, hand-sorted and then pressed in whole clusters (i.e., the entire bunch) then left on their lees (spent yeast) to age in oak barrels and foudres (big barrels) for nine months. The result? Intensely flavoured, supply-textured, big and round Chardonnay that you won’t want to share. Though you really should. Good for Sharing – go on, be generous. Serve with a sockeye salmon, cheesy poufs, or popcorn (seriously).

lauras red

2015 LAURA'S RED

Creekside Estate Winery

creeksidewine.com

Grapes: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah Region

Price $22.00

Laura’s Red is what Creekside does best. Vintage after vintage, this is a great wine. It’s different each year, reflecting the varying blending components, along with the weather, terroir and preferences of the winemaking team. But Creekside has established a style here. Call it an attitude. The wine is always big and bold, expressive, attention-grabbing. The fruit flavours are forward and fresh, but there’s an earthiness too. It tastes wild and edgy, yet it’s not without elegance. These wines age nicely and never disappoint. Good for Ageing, or drinking right now.

big fork

2015 BIG FORK RED

Good Earth Food & Wine

goodearthfoodandwine.com

Grapes: Cabernet Franc, Merlot

Price $21.95

The Good Earth is serious about wine in a way we can get behind. They aren’t pretentious about it, they don’t preach and they certainly don’t judge how you like to drink wine. Wine is for enjoying as a social expression. And their wines reflect this sensibility. They grow their grapes on their farm, make the wines onsite, and serve them in their restaurant — along with other ingredients also grown on their farm. So… how much more sincere can it get? Not much. Good for Friends and family gathered for good times, games, karaoke, dancing... whatever you're in the mood for!

rose

2017 VIVANT ROSÉ

Malivoire

malivoire.com

Grapes: Pinot Noir

Price $19.95

Malivoire’s passion for rosé is well known among wine geeks. Well, we think rosé deserves to be a more popular wine style with non-geeks too. The Globe and Mail’s Beppi Crosariol gave the 2016 vintage 90 points and called it “polished and seductive.” The 2017 presented here is at least as lovely, if not more, with that in-your face acidity that’s refreshing and on point. Good for Standing around the kitchen with the door open, heralding the early indications of spring while something lovely cooks on the stove or in the oven.

origin

2015 ORIGIN RIESLING

Rosewood Estates Winery

rosewoodwine.com

Grapes: Riesling

Price $15.95

Riesling is the wine that everybody likes but they don’t know it… yet. Ontario Riesling is a wine that demands attention. The grape just loves our climate and soils. And that translates to highly expressive wines with racy acidity, huge green apple and citrus qualities, and minerality that goes on for days. Rosewood makes some of the best, as exemplified in this 2015 beauty. Serve this wine to your friends. They will thank you. Good for Any social gathering. Someone asks for a Grigio? Give them this. They won’t complain.

clubk

So this isn't my first crack at the 2018 SPRING KWAF CLUBK Box. I think I may be addicted. I receive my seasonal box and then not quite a full month later, order another :)  It's hard to resist at that price point for six Outstanding wines from Ontario. KWAF CLUBK first came to my attention in an advertisement in a free magazine I got a few years ago. Considering I was a little miffed about receiving what I considered to be an 'old-fogie' magazine, that's where I found the advertisement for KWAF CLUBK. A even funnier thing is I learned later that 'Zoomers' is actually geared to readers my age and older. Either way, I'm just Thankful I received the magazine and got hooked on KWAF CLUBK Wine Club. So you know you want in on this Fabulous subscription. Hurry because Summer is coming and you don't want to miss KWAF CLUBK Summer box ....
